Johnson & Associates was contacted by a community seeking assistance with an executive search to fill their Economic Development Director position. Because they had been without the services of an economic developer for some time, they inquired as to the options that might be available regarding hiring a professional economic developer to guide their agency during the search process so that when the new full-time staff began their new duties, the program and office would be ready to roll.
Our team went to work! They spent some time brainstorming this concept and developed what we believe is a dynamic offering to our clients that find themselves going through staffing transitions. The Economic Development Management Services (EDMS) Program provides the short-term services of an experienced, award-winning economic developer with over 23 years of experience in Texas and Arizona to your community or organization. During that period of time, the EDMS Consultant will work with the Board, staff, City and other stakeholders to ensure that all regular functions of an economic development organization are being achieved as well as preparing for the arrival of the new full-time staff. Other services that can be included in the EDMS agreement include:
Strategic plan development and/or update
Board training (highly recommended)
Review and/or development of staff/board policies and procedures
While we believe there is value in working closely with the firm that is coordinating your executive placement (and of course we believe that J&A is the best in the business), it is not required that you contract with J&A for your executive search to contract for our EDMS services. You can be assured that we support your ultimate goal of identifying and bringing the ideal professional on board to lead your team – the EDMS program simply provides a bridge to assisting communities in reaching that goal.
